As a popular year-round crop for indoor farming, mushrooms can be a particularly labor-demanding (and labor-consuming) task. That’s why many companies in the vertical farming sector are working to create automated solutions for the harvesting of mushrooms and other crops. Stefn Glibetic, CEO of Mycionics Incorporated, recently spoke with CBC News to discuss and showcase the company’s robotic harvesting system and how its applications can assist mushroom farmers in the industry.

The robotic mushroom harvesting system employs an intelligent vision system to identify and measure mushrooms accurately, allowing its robot arm to harvest the crop with precision and care, This arm replicates the motions, strength, and grip of a human worker, while also having different attachments for varying tasks, including packaging.
