Planteva Farms, a Montreal-based ag tech company that grows seedlings indoors, made two announcements on Sept. 24:

  1. The company has partnered with Swedish cultivation technology supplier PlantVation AB to introduce the Seedling-as-a-Service (SaaS) model to North America. By installing two of PlantVation’s QS GreenBox-Stationary systems in its facility, Planteva will have the capacity to produce more than 50 million seedlings and transplants annually once the systems are up and running in 2026.
  2. The company closed on $2.75 million in its first seed round. “We’re raising the final $1.75 million to close our $4.5 million seed round, with room to oversubscribe for the right partners,” Bryce Nagels, CEO of Planteva, shared with HortiDaily. “We’re looking for investors who bring operational vision and hands-on expertise, and who want to build value through revenue, infrastructure, and scalable growth.”

Planteva will produce leafy green and herb seedlings for local indoor farms while trialing field crops like lettuce, onion, and celery. On the greenhouse side, the company aims to enhance tomato propagation and develop strawberry protocols to better protect against disease.
