The University of Wyoming (UW) is going to launch its CEA Network—an initiative connecting industry innovators, researchers, and the next generation of ag professionals—later this fall.

UW’s CEA group will focus on workforce development and partnership among industry stakeholders. The companies involved aren’t just sponsors—they’re co-creators, sharing knowledge, collaborating on grants, and using UW’s state-of-the-art Plant Growth and Phenotyping Facility as their innovation testbed.

Michael Baldwin, research scientist and facility manager, has recruited a group of established CEA companies to participate. This includes Vertical Harvest, CropKing, RAYN Growing Systems, as well as newer startups like Rooted Robotics, and international players from Europe and New Zealand.

Through the network, these companies will gain access to research facilities and emerging talent while students receive hands-on training, internships, and direct industry exposure. It’s workforce development meeting real-world innovation.
