Elevate Farms has announced its acquisition of Fieldless Farms, making Fieldless a 100% wholly-owned subsidiary of Elevate. Elevate Farms is a vertical farming technology company based in Toronto and focused on the development of autonomous growing systems. According to the company, its goal is “to contribute to a much-needed transformation of our food system” by designing, building, and operating vertical farms.
Fieldless Farms operates a facility in Cornwall, Ontario, where it’s focusing on sustainable farming, primarily of pesticide-free leafy greens through renewable energy. Additionally, its products are sold in packaging that reduces plastic use by up to 90%, according to the company.
The Future of Elevate and Fieldless
The acquisition aims to preserve the Fieldless brand and operational location in Cornwall.
Jon Lomow, Fieldless CEO, said, “The acquisition comes at a pivotal moment for Canada’s food ecosystem. With shifting global trade policies and new U.S. tariffs disrupting Canadian food imports and demand, investing in local production has never been more important. Together, Elevate and Fieldless are securing a stronger, more resilient domestic food supply while creating a more robust offering for Canadian innovation to enter international markets.”
