Sofía Ruiz is a master’s student focused on Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA). Her research optimizes growth environments for sweet potato propagation, targeting light (LED/HPS; spectrum and intensity), planting density, and energy efficiency to improve rooted cutting quality. She conducts her work in the Controlled Environment Lab with Dr. Ricardo Hernández and collaborates with the Micropropagation & Repository Unit (MPRU) under Dr. Christie Almeyda. Sofía also serves as a Graduate Peer Mentor and HSGSA officer, supporting student development and outreach.
